Iliya Arkadia was the late first Princess of the Archduke of Arkadia and Rio's older half-sister, sharing the same father. Due to her relation with Rio, Iliya is said to have often visited her in the house outside the capital. During that time, she also taught her younger sister how to play the trumpet. She was a kind and selfless person, making her popular with the Helvetian people but also leading to her dying while trying to save a child 2 years prior to the story.
Iliya served in a tank platoon of the Helvetian army as a trumpeter. In the past her trumpet playing inspired members of the 1121st platoon at various points when they met coincidentally.
Before her death, there were plans for her to become the Roman Emperor's third wife, establishing peace between the countries. After her death this responsibility fell to Rio.
