Klaus is a courier and commissioned officer with the rank of Major who is close friend of the 1121st. Since his appearance is similar to the "Desert Wolf" or "Miracle Klaus", a tank commander of the same name who is renowned for his courage and service in the Helvetian army, Kureha misidentifies him as the famous war hero.
Due to Kureha's admiration and awe for his supposed reputation, Klaus finds it difficult to reveal the truth to her, while the others in the platoon play along. When she isn't there, he frequently underlines that in reality he is nothing like the "Desert Wolf". Despite that he continues to play the role even in a life-threatening situation and saves Kureha (see Episode 9). He appears as a courageous, humble man which coincides with his plan to open a farm one day when he's free from military duty.
In service he rides a Zundapp KS750 motorbike.
Speculation[]
- Due to the light blue tag on his collar, he is assigned to the Troop Transport platoon.
- As a senior officer, something must have occured during his military carrer for him to be assigned troop transport and courier duties.
- Quintet of Maidens heavily implies that he only got his Major rank because he's friends with Kyrie Kuon, who has connections due to her aristocratic heritage.
- Probably knows about the bootlegging operation and looks the other way in exchange for a free bottle of wine every once in a while
- The Desert Wolf might be a reference to The Desert Fox, Field Marshall Erwin Rommel
